SavingWild: the book

My new book, Saving Wild, Inspiration From 50 Leading Conservationists, with a foreword by Jane Goodall is now available in paper back and ebook on  Amazon.com.

Fifty of the world’s leading conservationists – amazing men and women all over the world – who have devoted their lives to saving some of the most endangered species and the most threatened areas on earth, answer the question: How do you stay inspired?

I wondered if, like me (and I imagine many of you), these people ever get mired in the doubt and seeming impossibility of all that needs to be done to save the planet.

I decided to find out. And this book, Saving Wild, is the result.

Conservationists Interviewed in Saving Wild

Among the people I interviewed are wildlife film-makers Beverly and Dereck Joubert, elephant experts Daphne Sheldrick, Cynthia Moss and Joyce Poole, and ocean warrior Paul Watson. I spoke with Boyd Varty, who was raised in the African bush, with Kristine McDivitt Tompkins, former CEO of Patagonia, and with Laura Turner, daughter of one of America’s most prominent conservationists.

I asked them how they persevere, and what’s their antidote to ecological despair.

Were they born with an unusual amount of determination, or an exceptional ability to ignore the negative? Do they possess traits that can be learned or copied?

Their answers truly are inspiring. I hope you will buy a copy of Saving Wild and let them inspire you as well.

  8. Yesterday I went to Tecalote Bookshop in Santa Barbara and found Saving Wild! Lovely book. I think my fave quote are Meg Lowman’s last two lines.

Good job, Lori! You should be proud – and inspired! 🙂

  9. I did a review on Amazon. Your book IS really inspiring. I love that each person did not write a long essay but a short piece that is easy to read because I can pick it up and just read one or two for inspiration rather than set aside an afternoon or some such 🙂 So lovely to read given all the doom and gloom – it’s great to read about people doing real things that are positive.
