The East African country of Kenya is one of the continents top safari destinations almost anytime of the year, but August –October are some of the best and most popular months for a Kenya safari.

I’ve been traveling to Africa for the past 30 years, and helping people plan their African Safari’s  for the past decade. What I know to be true is that the more you know before you go, the better your experience will be.

Learn about the best remedies for mosquitoes and Montezuma’s revenge…and lots more.

(Open each link for a full explanation and helpful information)

1. Natural Remedies for Mosquitoes and more

Yes (thank God) there are alternatives to following the Deet and Cipro (typical recommendations) route. Use this link to learn about highly effective natural remedies for the most common maladies travelers experience when going on safari.

2. Africa Animal Reference Books

New Bird and Mammal safari guide books for Kenya do not come along very often. These two books are now considered the best African Animal and Bird reference books to take along on your Kenya safari.

3. Safari Hat

The perfect safari hat is one of the most important items you will pack. It protects you from sun and wind, and (hopefully) stays on your head and looks good. Find out what that perfect safari hat is, and why you will love it for your Kenya safari. (This is one of my most popular posts, proving the right hat is essential!)

4. African Books Reading List

Check out these recommended favorite titles on books about Africa and African Animals. This list offers many classic Africa Books as well as the newest titles to help you get in the mood for your Kenyan safari.

5. Giraffe Center and Sheldrick Orphanage

If you aren’t staying at Nairobi’s famous Giraffe Manor, be sure not to miss a visit to the Giraffe Center. Located in Karen, it is a must do for any Kenya safari itinerary. Also in Karen is the Sheldrick Orphange for baby elephants who have lost their mothers. Both are exceptional animal experiences you won’t want to miss.

6. Wildebeest Migration

Earlier I told you Kenya safari’s are most popular from August-October. Why? Because of the wildebeest migration. If seeing the migration is one of the reasons you are going on safari to Kenya, you need to read this. Understanding the wildebeest migration is essential to avoiding possible disappointment.
